I'm afraid my 5lb weights will make me huge like a man!

Ok, this is something I hear at least 12 times a week in addition to my other blog posts. It seems like every time we start doing shoulder exercises in one of my classes, one or 5 females all start saying "well I don't want huge muscles like a boy." I'm not sure what magazine or TV show started this nonsense but it's so far from the truth. Work as hard as you can with your 5 lb weights because no matter how hard you try, the possibility for a female to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger or even Justin Bieber is highly unlikely. Just kidding, you can look like Bieber with a Fisher Price weight set.


Most females don't realize the number of guys who stare at themselves in the mirror in hopes of getting huge! It takes so much hard work and so much time..even then some never get huge before giving up. But seriously, men are naturally leaner, stronger and can carry more muscle mass than females.  The reason why is due to the levels of testosterone within their system. So for all the females out there, don't fear weights – I can assure you with all certainty that you’ll never look like a male as a result of training for strength with weights.

You may get big if: 1. Work out with super heavy weights for hours on end for years and years, even still won't get big. 2. You have a large amount of testerone (male hormone)in your system 3. You take steroids 4. You are eating more than enough for your body weight, thus adding to your size from unwanted pounds.
